& Use of Personal Information

Services (
Canada)
Inc. ("VFS") is collecting and using your personal
information
on behalf of the
High Commission of India for the purposes of processing your
application
for a visa to visit
India, an Overseas
Citizenship of India card, a Person of Indian Origin card, a
passport request, and other documents from the High Commission of
India.
Collection
of Personal Information
We
collect the personal information that you submit on application
forms you provide to us (whether completed online or in paper form),
and on supporting documentation for your application (e.g. passports
and other documentation that you may provide).
Depending
upon which application you are completing, the personal information
we collect may include your full name, other names (e.g. maiden
name, aliases etc.), date and place of birth, gender, father and
mother's names and nationalities, spouse's name, a physical
description (e.g. height, weight, hair and eye colour, any visible
distinguishing marks), a photograph, addresses, telephone number(s),
passport details (including country of citizenship, passport
numbers), emergency contact information, employment information
(e.g. current and past employers) and travel details.
Use
of Personal Information
Application
Processing: We use your information for
the purposes of processing your application to the High Commission
of India. As part of
the application process, we transfer your personal information to
the High Commission of India in
Ottawa and/or the Consulate General
of India in
Vancouver and in
Toronto for
the purposes of processing and making a determination further to
your request. Your personal information will also be retained
separately by the Indian Government in accordance with their data
protection policies and applicable law. VFS will retain your
personal information for no longer than necessary for the purposes
stated above or to otherwise meet legal requirements.
Service
Provider Arrangements:
We
may transfer (or otherwise make available) your personal information
to our VFS affiliates and other third parties who provide services
on our behalf in connection with the purposes set out herein. For example, we may use
service providers to host our websites and servers, operate certain
of its features, send e-mails, and manage and analyze data.
Your
personal information will be maintained and processed in
Canada and
India
by our VFS affiliates and other third party service
providers. Our service providers are required to implement measures
to safeguard your personal information, use it only in compliance
with applicable privacy laws, and are not authorized to use or
disclose your personal information for any purpose other than
providing the services on our behalf or as otherwise legally

Legal: VFS, our affiliates, and our
service providers, must provide your personal information in
response to a search warrant or other legally valid inquiry or
order, or to an investigative body in the case of a breach of an
agreement or contravention of law, or as otherwise required by
applicable law. We may also disclose personal information to assist
us in collecting a debt owed by you, or otherwise where necessary
for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are
or providing us with any information. However, we collect the IP
(Internet protocol) addresses of all visitors to our website and
other related information such as page requests, browser type,
operating system and average time spent on our website. We use this
information to monitor and improve our website.

element of data that our website can send to your browser, which may
then be stored on your hard drive so we can recognize you when you

service providers who require such information for the purposes

disclosure of personal information in our custody and control. Unfortunately, no collection
or transmission of information over the Internet can be guaranteed
